I was asked by The Bio Agency to wireframe and design a website that would be a home for the luxurious brands and online store of Hotel Chocolat. The hub itself was a single page gateway made up of fullscreen panels that introduce each brand and entice users into the dedicated site of each brand. Each panel was made up of several levels that parallaxed as the user scrolled vertically to create a sense of depth to their beautifully shot photographs.
The aim was to create a site with a real depth of content feel very ordered and sleek to give a prestige feel that befits a luxury brand. I detailed how content and when content would be displayed and hidden at the wireframe stage.
The homepage of the shop used a large slideshow area to showcase aspirational photography to entice the browsing user rather than present them with product listings.
Users who know what they want or how much they want to spend can drill down quickly using the mega menu.
The product listing page gives users the option to show/hide introductory texts and filters. Tapping an item reveals a quick view panel to enable saving and purchasing options at category level.
The product detail page manages to house a lot of content with a large section of real estate given over to the tempting product images whilst still remaining clean and sleek.
The gifting nature of the business required that the checkout could allow users to split single orders into multiple deliveries to different recipients.
